A personal example of consultative selling in action is my collaboration with eBay. Instead of providing off-the-shelf solutions, I worked closely with eBay’s Strategy and Planning teams to understand their business challenges. Through tailored workshops, innovation sessions, and data-driven insights, with me team, we developed solutions to address eBay's immediate and future advertising needs, including:
SaaS audience insights to fuel media planning
1st party data amplification and proactive insight reports tailored to eBay’s product lines to enhance the creative direction of their media campaigns
Measurement solutions that allowed eBay to optimise their media campaigns
Support for Mixed Media Modelling to measure ROI and inform future media strategies
This collaborative approach resulted in a year-on-year increase in media investment and laid the foundation for ongoing innovation sessions.
By introducing innovative AdTech solutions that aligned with their business goals and informed their future media planning, the relationship evolved from a simple transactional engagement to a strategic partnership that added long-term value to both parties!
In essence, consultative selling turns what could be a one-time sale into a lasting relationship, built on trust and collaboration. When you focus on solving the right problem, selling becomes secondary – it’s about helping the client succeed.
